Dear Friends,

Here are the screening date and details for our premiere screening in Atlanta at the:

Morehouse College Human Rights Film Festival:

Wednesday, September 18th at 4 PM

Shirley A. Massey Executive Conference Center
(Conf. Rooms C+F)

One large request for August: help us get our filmmakers to Atlanta to be with the premiere screening of Resurrecting Love.  We need to begin the public screenings of our film properly and with as much fanfare as possible.

Love Cemetery, the small, two-hundred year old African American cemetery in East Texas represents the endangered landscape of Black burial grounds all over the United States, graveyards that today are getting built over, cut up, covered by freeways and dividing neighborhoods.  With your help, we can offer our documentary on Love Cemetery to help stem the tide.

RESURRECTING LOVE

AT THE 6th ANNUAL MOREHOUSE COLLEGE HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL

Atlanta, Georgia    September 18, 2024 at 4 PM

Shirley A. Massey Executive Conference Center (Rooms C+F)

We need a minimum of $5,000 to get our people there.  This is our opportunity to get attention for our film, to get conversations going about the important issues of race, reconciliation and stolen history related in the film.  We think we can get Aldo, Alexis, Ben, Barry and China there with that amount.  We can be there before the screening and talk to other filmmakers, distributors, reviewers, educators and journalists about joining us for our screening(s) and spreading the word.  Then we can watch with a large audience and discuss the 20 year process of making of the film, encourage future screenings at other festivals, in classrooms and churches, and distribution on screens across the world (theaters, streaming, video services, etc.) and begin the next phase of our journey.

You can help by making a tax deductible contribution through our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas.

Or schedule a screening in your community that could help us raise the funds to spread our influence around the country.  Here is one somewhat recent success story which seems duplicatable:

One of our producers, Alexis Yancey, has a friend who is a retired CBS news Producer living in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey.  This friend saw the movie at Alexis’ request, was greatly moved and wanted to know what she could do to help.  At our suggestion, she hosted a screening in her living room for some 15 people (it was pouring rain the night of the screening which prevented a few others from attending) and not only did each and every person there contribute to the finish of Resurrecting Love, two other Watch Parties are scheduled from those there.

You can do it too.  Just ask us for a link to the full 76 minute version of the film so you can preview it.  Then, if you respond like so many others, let us know you want to host a screening for friends (click the "Contact Us" at the bottom of this note to do that).  All you need is your living room or a local church or community center, a large screen and as many people as you can squeeze in.  We'll send you screening instructions, discussion suggestions and talk you through the event.

Thank you one and all for your phenomenal generosity!

In solidarity,
