Happy 4th and Beyond,
We had some excitement coming into this month. On June 25th in Teaneck, New Jersey, some people who had seen the present cut of Resurrecting Love at the beginning of the month hosted a screening at St. Mark's Episcopal Church for our first real audience of strangers, people who knew nothing about the movie. Here are reactions from members of that audience about the impact of the movie.
Yes, there is an end in sight in terms of completing Resurrecting Love. The watch parties that were hosted around the country in late May and June were successful. We have been able to contract a law firm (a good one) to help us clear the rights to music and archival footage and dot all the legal i's and cross all the t's. We are now taking bids on sound and picture houses to mix and color correct professionally. This is all possible because we have raised about 85% or our original $110,000 goal.
(By the way: we’re receiving musical support from the extraordinary, Grammy-nominated, internationally known blues singer and guitarist, Eric Bibb, working with us on original compositions and recording them for use in the film. He is donating much of his time and services because he was able to see the rough cut of our film and got the fever.)
Anyway, if you can help get us all the way there, once again you can do it here:
This button above takes you to a site that enables you to make a tax deductible donation. Also if you hate credit cards, it tells you how to send a check and get the same deduction.
That's it, short and sweet. We had a screening 12 miles outside of New York City, in Teaneck New Jersey, and an audience of strangers thought our movie (and the issues it is about) important. It's a nice feeling after all these years of work and struggle.
Contribute to our finishing the film if you can. Otherwise, enjoy it when it comes to a theater near you. We'll be keeping you posted.
In solidarity,
Barry for the Resurrecting Love team
